Country-Specific Size Norms

🇩🇪 Germany

200×65–70 cm standard. Wider norms due to larger average body habitus. XL common.

🇫🇷 France

200×65 cm standard. Specific interior depth requirements apply for certain burial grounds.

🇳🇱 Netherlands

200×68 cm standard. High cremation rate (82%) — cremation specs critical.

🇵🇱 Poland

200×65 cm standard. Orthodox cross-top models widely used in Eastern Poland.

🇷🇴 Romania

200×65 cm standard. Orthodox models dominant — shoulder width and lid profile important.

🇮🇹 Italy

200×64 cm standard. Regional variation — Northern Italy prefers narrower profiles.

Measuring for the Right Coffin Size

To select the correct coffin, funeral homes typically measure: shoulder width, body length, and total body girth. A rule of thumb is to add 10–15 cm to shoulder width for exterior width, and 10 cm to body length for exterior length.

Standard sizing: shoulder width + 10 cm = interior width
Standard sizing: body height + 10 cm = interior length
For body weight over 120 kg: order Wide or XL model
For body height over 200 cm: order Long (215 cm ext.) model
For bariatric cases (>150 kg): confirm interior width ≥ 72+ cm

What is the standard coffin size in Europe?

200 cm (L) × 65 cm (W) exterior, with interior clearance ~190 × 55 cm. Germany and Netherlands trend slightly wider (up to 70 cm exterior width).

What size is an oversized or bariatric coffin?

210–220 cm (L) × 80–100 cm (W) exterior. Nova Coffin XXL models accommodate body weight up to 300 kg. Custom dimensions on request (min. 25 units).

Can coffin dimensions be customised?

Yes. Custom length (195–250 cm), width (60–110 cm), and height (35–55 cm). Minimum order 25 units. 15–20 working day production lead time.
